Lori,
True, but will it help them to get a job??? Probably not. I'd say go with Windows.
Sincerely,
Jim Ryan

Subject: 250 linux computers for the poor
Hi all,
Herb Moyer of Multimedia Systems in Exeter has 250 compaq computers 486's
and early pentiums that he will be donating to Rockinham Community Action
Program to help the disadvantaged get online. He made an appeal to the
e-coast roundtable this morning for modems, cd roms, sound cards, and
software. I met with him after the meeting to convince him that the only
operating system that makes sense for the poor is Linux. (Run's well on
older machines, won't force expensive updates, supported at no cost by an
extensive user network, more stable for beginning users, inexpensive
applications available) Herb will be coming to the Slug Meeting on the
14th and probably the dinner before to get a sense of what we are all
about. He is calling this project the Equal Access Technology Project. I
have contact info for him if anyone is interested.
