During the last 2 days, I've been to IBM SHARE (similar to DECUS). 
The hot sessions are Linux.  The main announcements are around Linux
on S/390 (truly "iron penguin" stuff).  A quick search of dice.com
turned up 503 jobs in MA with linux in the job description.  And, with
Linux training, you actually get to understand what is happening. 
Concepts, not just rote button pushing. Which means the skill today is
still the skill tomorrow.

Windows may have today, but Linux has tomorrow (and maybe even this
evening).
