The Athlon/Duron chips did exhibit an incompatibility with the MTRR (Memory
Type Range Register) code in some Linux kernels. The thing is, I could have
sworn it was fixed in the kernel rev you're using. But you might try
searching for "mtrr" and "amd" on Google or the LKML archives.
