Hi,

I received an offer from ATT/RR/Mediaone to get a 3com DOCSIS modem for
$100. Since this will knock $10/month off of my bill I am tempted to
switch from my old LanCity since the new one will be paid for in a year
and probably be better supported over the next few years.

The offer is at:

        http://3com.web-forms.com/webform/rr.asp

from which I speculate the modem is:

3Com HomeConnect Cable Modem External Product #: 3CR29223-A

http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/detail.jsp?tab=features&pathtype=purchase&sku=3CR29223-A

it is a weird smooth curvy thing with yellow-green lights (looks dumb
to me; I think I'm gonna miss the lancity fins...)

Is anybody using one of these cable modems? Is it working OK under Linux,
or are there some issues/gotchas? What on earth do the SNMP and web-based
management interfaces do? Sounds like trouble to me...

Thanks in advance,

Karl
