-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Yikes!
The only reason I'm replying to this on-list at all is because it seems that I was insufficiently clear in the way I phrased the original post I made on the topic, and people are still sending messages on and off list about this topic. Please note: I DO NOT FEEL BEN'S ORIGINAL MESSAGE PROVIDED NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE LINK HE POSTED. It was his comments IN the message that prompted me to post, not the lack or presence of acompanying information about the link he posted. Hopefully, after this post, this topic can truly die. :) At some point hitherto, Rich Cloutier hath spake thusly: > Yes that is true. But by looking at the subject line I knew what this story > was about. Well, though I did feel it was a bit vague, unless you're familiar with what Linux BIOS is... it was not my intent to suggest Ben's message or subject was itself deficient. As I said in the part of the message you didn't quote, I wasn't really suggesting that Ben's message didn't meet my idea of the minimum. I did, in fact, point out that Ben did provide some info about the link. You're missing the point... The point is that, as I also said in the part of the message you didn't quote, all too often, people DO post links without providing any information whatever about the link. What I'm suggesting is that people refrain from doing so. That's all! :) The only reason that my message came in reply to Ben's message at all, was because he went on to disclaim that rather than try to provide any info about the link, he would just post it, and let you figure it out for yourself. You'll note this is where my comments began... People often do exactly that (though in reality, Ben didn't), and I'd like to try to discourage that. I feel (and others agree) that if you're going to bother posting something, you should give us some hint as to what it is or why you're posting it. Otherwise, you're just wasting bandwidth. I (and others, to different degrees) went on at length about why I feel that way. No need to rehash that here.
