Michael,

This is one reason why there are different distributions, with different
philosophies.

If SuSE's process of putting up their ISOs later on in the release cycle, or
their philosophy of bundling the more expensive software into the "Professional"
set discourages you, then try Debian, or Red Hat.  Debian has at least as many
packages as SuSE does, and I have heard that their network update facility is
at least as good as SuSE.
