Showing my personal bias...  You could also consider Debian.  I've
installed it on a couple of powerpcs (macs) in the recent past, and it
works fine.  Getting it going initially is a little tricky, but not a
big deal, and you'll probably only do that once.  I and some others,
would be happy to help you with that.
