This is similar to the stuff I want to do for mutual fund purchases
(among other things).  Since the values that the brokerage gives you
may only be approximations of what actually happened (the overall
deduction from your clearing account will be right, but the share
price may not, especially if it's a loaded fund), I want to have a
helper for entering these transactions.  However, I wasn't thinking of
a dynamic register element, but rather a dialog/druid/whatever that
would ask you a few of the right questions and generate the
transaction.  That would probably be easier, as an initial approach,
than what you're proposing, but I agree that for some purposes what
you're proposing may be much slicker.
