Dear all,

I’ve been using GnuCash happily for over a decade now, running it in
Ubuntu Linux. I’m trying to teach my mother how to use it for her
personal finances, in Windows 10. But it doesn’t seem to be working in
Windows: The problem is that the program often freezes up when saving:
I installed version 2.6 (a few months ago), and then version 3.3 this
week. I tried unchecking the box in the options for file compression,
and this seems to make it freeze up less often. I looked this issue up
online, but I don’t see any discussion that looks fully relevant. We
have been able to set up some accounts and expense categories, and have
started adding transactions. I’m pretty sure the last time it froze was
also upon saving, though it may have happened when selecting a date for
a new transaction, which was immediately after saving. My mother is not
very computer-savvy, so I need to make it just work normally.
Be Well,

Scott
