Yes, the bug report is only for 3.x, but the problem is as likely to be with 
Cairo than with Gtk itself and that’s common to both.

A better diagnostic is to get some stack traces, but that can be challenging on 
Windows. There are instructions at https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace 
<https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace>. (The best is profiling, but there 
aren’t usable tools for that on Windows in the build environment that GnuCash 
uses.)
