That's interesting. I've never seen that on Win10 though, for any .exe.

Barry - FYI. In windows download you MUST specifically tell windows
download that it is ok to KEEP the download.
Microsoft defender by default WILL NOT keep an .exe download. When you
download in Windows 10 or Windows 11, Defender AUTOMATICALLY will delete
the download UNLESS you specifically tell it to keep it. When you
download, you will get something like image 1. You then must move your
cursor over the download file message and reveal a trash can and three
dots. If you click on the three dots, a message will appear (image 2).
YOU MUST SELECT KEEP. When you do this, goofy windows defender still
cautions you with this message (image 3). At this point (I know this is
crazy) you must hit the arrow NEXT to the delete button. If you hit
DELETE by accident, the download gets deleted. If you hit the arrow,
the following appears (image 4) with the final option to KEEP ANYWAY.
Once you click on that - your download will be saved.
I know this is crazy -- but that is the new way Windows 11 saves
"untrusted" files. Unfortunately, if you don't follow these steps,
the download will never be kept on your machine. It is Windows trying
to protect you - but instead is really getting in your way.
