Are you saying that Gnucash is written in something akin to LISP?

How hard might depend on familiarity with "functional" computer
languages as opposed to "procedural" languages. Scheme is a dialect of
LISP.
The point I am making is that if only ever seen procedural languages,
a functional language might seem "strange". Takes a learning curve.
