You are quite right Mr Ralls. In the UK for example, you have to have a real-time Information module (RTI) that connects to His Majesties Revenue and Customs (HMRC) computers. Then there is the matter of Student Loan Repayments, Attachment of earnings, pension payments, tax codes, right to work etc. I haven't done payroll for 10 years and suspect that even more data is collected now. When I was, HMRC knew then who you were, what you were paid, to what bank, how much and when it was credited as soon as I clicked 'Upload' This information was used to see if you had been overpaid any benefits you were entitled to. Frankly, I think that GNUCASH should stick to what it does best - accounting.
