Unfortunately Professor Rodrigues died in 2014. I sent his obituary because it
describes his remarkable career. Another distinguished Goan who was a respected
Professor at Georgetown University was Joaquim de Sequeira Coutinho. He was
Professor of Portuguese, had visited Goa, and I had the pleasure of meeting him
in the US. Here is his bio. The bio incorrectly says he was of Portuguese
descent.
Many Goans distinguished themselves as Professors of Portuguese and experts in
Portuguese literature outside Portugal. Vicente de Bragança Cunha was one of
them.
