With all due respect, I still think that it is not right to label and stigmatize an entire group on the basis of their race (or what we imagine is their race), or any other demographic or physical characteristic by that matter, just because some members of that group caused harm or committed horrific crimes and other irregularities. In the case of the descendants of Europeans in Goa, calling them "mesticos" is clearly using a racial epithet and does not match with the high credentials of people like Teotonio de Souza and Leopoldo da Rocha. Besides, they were both wrong when they described the insurrection that took place against Bernardo Peres da Silva and misled their readers and others who repeated what they said without checking the sources. I do not deny that harm existed. I question how it is described and the generalizations associated with that description. John M..de Figueiredo
