Roland, The "bond" the Goans had with the Parsis were not restricted to Bombay alone. A similar relationship existed in the early 1900's in E. Africa. In Zanzibar, a 98% Muslim country, the Goans and the Parsis were the only people, apart from the whites, who could buy alcohol. I also know of Goan musicians in the UK today who say they are booked one year in advance for Parsi functions. Mervyn3.0 PS Zanzibaris have lots of stories of Freddie Mercury's parents. They used to live in Mercury House in Zanzibar. PSS I read an article sometime ago about one of the few Parsi priests in Canada. His parents where from Zanzibar. One can only become a Parsi priest if ones father was a priest too. Needless to say, there is a dearth of Parsi priests in N. America today __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
