Bosco has already pointed out how misinformation regarding aspartame is being
spread in this thread through bogus websites. Interspersed below I correct all
the false statements made by Ferdinando, some of which involve
misrepresentations of what I said.

The news report from MIT that I had provided clearly states that the study was
conducted at MIT. Here is the quote:

"The study was conducted at MIT's CRC. Electro-encephalograms were done at the
Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in Boston."

Please see - http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/1998/aspartame-0916.html

The paper published by Spiers in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
also states this clearly. Here is an excerpt from the abstract displayed on the
journal website:

Aspartame: neuropsychologic and neurophysiologic evaluation of acute and
chronic effects

This a well-known untrustworthy aspartame activism website that makes dubious
claims against science and scientists.

Bosco and I have shown that the smoke created on Goanet regarding aspartame is
simply foul smelling exhaust from dubious websites.

Authentic information provided by responsible sources state that aspartame is
chemically synthesized from the naturally occurring essential amino acids
L-aspartate and L-phenylalanine. The raw materials for its synthesis, namely
the said amino acids are obtained by fermentation using two strains of harmless
bacteria, B. flavum and C. glutamicum, just as dairy yogurt is produced by the
fermentation of milk by bacteria called L. delbrueckii and S. salivarius.

I did not mention how many chemicals in all were involved in the chemical
synthesis of aspartame. I only stated the incontrovertible fact that it was
made from two naturally occurring amino acids. Please see above.

Medical doctors, whether they are general practitioners like Ferdinando or
specialists, are not supposed to provide false information and mislead the
public through bogus activist propaganda websites. They are supposed to provide
reliable information from responsible sources such as WHO, Food and
Agricultural Organization, National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society,
European Commission Scientific Committee on Food, etc. All of these
organizations categorically state that aspartame is safe for human consumption
as a sugar substitute.

Cheers,

Santosh
