Falcao,

But I am interested in feeding you and other goanetters accurate medical
information. I want to tell you and provide evidence that doctors and hospitals
that practice latest modern medicine feel that a doctor can legally certify
that a person is a smoker or non-smoker based on the results of a urine test.
If you think that you can win a court case against such a doctor and win a
large compensation in the U.S., I ask you to put your money where your mouth is
and sue the Occupational Health Clinic of one of the most prestigious medical
institutions in the world, the Cleveland Clinic in the U.S. This institution
requires its medical staff to get a no-smoking clearance certificate from its
Occupational Health physician before being allowed to work at the hospital.
Here is the website describing their employment policy:

http://portals.clevelandclinic.org/gme/IncomingResidentsFellows/ChecklistofNextSteps/HealthScreening/tabid/4944/Default.aspx

Here is the pertinent quote from it:

QUOTE
Cleveland Clinic maintains a drug-free and tobacco-free workplace. All newly
hired employees undergo urine drug testing as a condition of employment. This
test quantifies the presence of illicit drugs and cotinine (nicotine
metabolite). According to Cleveland Clinic policy, newly hired employees who
have cotinine levels above the measuring threshold will have their employment
offer rescinded and will receive a referral to a tobacco cessation program paid
for by Cleveland Clinic. If they test negative after 90 days, they may be
reconsidered for appointment at the discretion of the program director and if
the training position remains vacant.

Cheers,

Santosh
