I was confused as to why his project wasn't working earlier this week,
so I e-mailed Christophe who informed me about this thread.

As someone who has worked on a port of Genesis Plus in the past,
(http://projects.sappharad.com/gcn/genplus/) I'm kind of biased in
this situation, but I don't agree with the way it was handed. The
license problem isn't eke's fault and there isn't anything he can do
to change that since he's respecting the wishes of the original
developer. This discussion has been covered in the previous thread
linked above though, (which I also wasn't aware of until now) so that
isn't why this is upsetting.

The problem I have with the way you handled this is that you
essentially killed the project without giving any advance notice that
you were planning to do so. I understand that with the number of take-
downs you might need to do every day that you really don't have time
to "give someone a warning" in advance, but in this case the take-down
wasn't due to a DMCA complaint or something of that nature.

Would it really be that big of an inconvenience for you to give him
some time to migrate the repository history and issue tracker data to
somewhere else? I would be willing to host everything for you if
that's what it takes to see everything come back in a "safe" place.

I agree that his project may not fall under your definition of open
source anymore, but I also agree that it's not right for someone to
profit off of his work and not comply with the license it previously
had. Please consider opening it back up for a week or something, I'm
willing to help with whatever it takes to see that all of this history
is not lost. Thanks in advance...
