Hi Yordan, Always good to see some enthusiasm regarding new technology. Just wondering what you think the maps will get out of targeting flash player 11. Whatever flash player version is targeted during compilation will be the required flash player version, so targeting 11 when it's still an early beta build (calling it incubator now I guess) definitely isn't going to happen right now. I believe a lot of the optimization that will benefit the maps API won't require recompilation of the project but rather are internal mechanisms of the Flash player that have changed (so in just having the newest version you'll get some benefit, but without changing code to utilize new methods exposed through the flash player recompilation won't do anything in itself). I'm hoping Google is working to get the vector based maps working in Flash (as they're working to make this happen in the mobile arena currently from what I've heard). Either way without writing the code in such a way that it takes advantage of the GPU acceleration provided by the new Molehill API I don't think we'll see drastic change (though this will be good for the 2.5D maps and the possibility of porting Google Earth to AS3, not that it affects me much but it sure would be cool).
Could you point me to what you're referring to with events, I haven't seen anything about that with regard to FP11. Also excited to see what comes out of Alternativa3D, Away3D, and Zest3D as they integrate the molehill changes, I'm also curious how these will fair with regard to games being converted with Alchemy vs. new titles created from scratch in AS3 using these APIs (admittedly I'm pretty naive about the whole thing so if anyone would like to fill me in on any insider information, that would be nice). Agreed on the continual awesomeness delivered by Adobe (and previously by Macromedia when really there was no competition, sometimes I miss Macromedia, good thing for the way back machine http://replay.waybackmachine.org/19981212032728/http://www.shockrave.com/ http://replay.waybackmachine.org/19961109214621/http://www.macromedia.com/ http://replay.waybackmachine.org/19970329032254/http://www.macromedia.com/).
