Hey developers- We finally released walking directions + avoid highways in the API for developers to use. There are links to docs and samples here:
http://googlegeodevelopers.blogspot.com/2008/09/walking-directions-avoid-highways-my.html Please note that walking directions comes with a caveat: it will only be returned for GDirections requests that have specified a <DIV> to place the instructions in. This is because we needed a guaranteed location to place the precaution message, and could not legally enable developers to use directions without displaying that message. This is the same message that's shown on maps.google.com to all users. This means that those of you that are displaying a custom UI for the directions instructions will not be able to use walking directions. If at some point in the future we feel walking directions have matured enough to not require a precaution message, this restriction will be lifted. Other than that... enjoy! - pamela --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API" group.
