Woohoo i figured it out! There is actually NO issue when "From: Detect Language" is selected.
However if any language is selected for "From:", it's all screwed up, selecting translated text becomes a nightmare again! (yellow highlight on the left side + suggestion dropdown popups make the selection practically impossible, try it!)
