It is difficult to make out what everyone is replying to. My point was
a general AI point, not a point about Islam. As a translator deep
knowledge of various types does come into it. There is an amusing joke
this time in German. interperators were provided for a scientific
conference. This was way back, nowadays everyone is expected to speak
English.

A Gernan was talking about Relativity and "Einstein" came through as
"a stone" "ein Stein". Now knowledge of Relativity (deep knowledge) is
thus important for your translation.

Looking at the Islamic world one should first of all realize that the
practice of Islam and Sharia Law varies greatly between countries. In
Syria, Lebanon and to a considerable extent Egypt the basis of family
life and meeting your partner is very much Western. Forced marriages
occur in India, Pakistan and the more backward Moslem countries. It
should be remembered too that forced marriages are HINDU as much as
Moslem. It is associated with the general area.

One BTW. Hezbullah is very much thought of in the West as militant
fundamentalist Islam. Yet Hezbullah runs a computer dating agency
which I believe Christian Arabs use as well. In the Middle East things
are not always what they appear from outside.

Of course the big AI question is how do you find all this out. Can an
automatic system formulate conculsions? You can fing out these facts
by hand by searching Google.
