what you were thinking but were too afraid to say is nothing but proof that
there's a reason to be afraid to say it, and Brendan Eich is it.

Maybe if those of you who supposedly hoped he would stay had stood up for

support someone under pressure is the same thing as pressuring him
yourselves. Color me unimpressed unless you can show that there was, in
fact, public support from the majority at Mozilla who -- now, we are
supposed to believe -- was on his side.

You really think so? Surely Brendan as a founder with a long history has
enough of a sense of Mozilla that he knew, and knows, that the vast
majority of Mozilla (afaict) supports him.

I suggest it is wishful thinking that a lack of public support (if it
exists) could have had an impact on his decision, and perhaps more
importantly that it could have swayed the primarily *external* forces
(including press) that pushed him to such a gut wrenching decision.

Linda,

thank you for messaging instead of just silently turning your back on us.

Yes, Brendan deserved better. Much, much better. I doubt there is a
single

person within Mozilla both as an organization and a community that thinks

otherwise.

Which is why we didn't make him leave. After enduring the public
battering

for 11 days and trying to find a way to be an effective leader under the

circumstances, he made the decision to step down.

Since you care so deeply about this topic and feel betrayed, I hope you
can

take the time to read these following blog posts that contain
explanations

and perspectives of a much higher quality than I could provide:

thank you for your time,

Hey, I have preferred and used Mozilla for over 6 years. Your lack of

tolerance for people who are different, who think differently than YOU,

seems to elevate and entitles you to make someone leave who has
contributed

  so much to Mozilla--Unbelievable.

Now, Mozilla's favorable standing with me is in jeopardy.

Mozilla need to Get totally rid of your obvious 'Intolerance, lack of
free

speech, exclusivity, non-diversity' stance, or lose the base that keeps
you

in place. Be who you claim to be, stand up for that, instead of
pretending

  it.

Diversity means embracing all people, regardless of their thinking, sex,

age, ugliness, beauty, etc. Where is the equality in this situation
here?

SHAME, SHAME ON YOU AT MOZILLA.

What would you have done, if Brendan had been a sex-changed man, who had

simply changed his mind about anything----(OR ARE WE NOT ALLOWED TO EVER

CHANGE OUR MINDS OR BELIEFS??), but condemned forever.

Brendan Eich deserved better than this from Mozilla. Too bad for him
that

he is of that segment of society that now has to be cast down. A White

Male who has beliefs about marriage that honor women. Too bad.

Total outrage. But, someone with this much knowledge and ability will
land

on his feet, and I will join his next creation--as I am sure he has
learned

a lesson about non-diversity and intolerance from working at Mozilla.

Thanks for showing what Mozilla is really about.
