Hi Hugh, Wired internet connections are generally pretty reliable these days and outages are usually pretty brief. That said, the thrust of my post a few minutes ago was to see what steps practices have in place to provide Internet connection redundancy (which will be increasingly more important).
One solution I'm thinking through currently would be to have a load balancing router with a DSL/Cable connection on one incoming port, with a wireless broadband solution on the other. Data would obviously be prioritised to the faster, cheaper wired connection. Maxon (Telstra's supplier) are going to release an Ethernet docking station for their USB wireless broadband modem which would make this solution technically straight forward. Comments?
