My impression with them so far Liz is that they are generally pretty well organized and used to getting results with minimal fuss and resources, like many many remote area services. They wont have any ideological axe to grind re software/Medicare etc etc. The Alice Springs Congress IT setup seemed to be very professionally run and reliable I suspect they are mainly interested in clinical results - whatever gets them that with minimal fuss. A Uni comp science dept would probably not be able to provide ongoing support.

I emailed this to my son, studying computer science, and about to finalise choice of a major project. He said it would have been a good project, but the request is just too late to consider. I think that CARPA should genuinely consider delaying this and placing the project with a Uni Comp Sci department rather than taking this commercial route to development.
