Thanks Richard for the MySource Matrix link, which we will follow up.
Supported open source platforms would offer a lot of benefits, such as
longetivity and development of additional features, but is not a
requirement. There is no shortage of products including open source
that could handle the CMS and web delivery requirements, however finding
an integrator with experience on taking the material through to
professional print and a range of electronic formats from one of these
systems has not been harder, though the project may still need to do
some prioritisation around these.

Integrating with Communicare, Ferret and PCIS (used in NT community
health clinics) is a key requirement, which they've indicated could be
readily achieved with an XML output of the resource with an index page
in ICPC2 clinical terms. GP desktop systems may well also be utilised
in this contest, and I would be interested to hear if your experiences
in this regard Elizabeth. Supporting electronic decision support
systems will be a major future challenge.

Thanks for your comments and I would urge you to forward it to any
projects that have covered similar ground. Jon can you recommend a
contact at NSW Breast Cancer Institute in relation to the system there?

Regards,

Paul

My impression with them so far Liz is that they are generally pretty
well organized and used to getting results with minimal fuss and
resources, like many many remote area services. They wont have any
ideological axe to grind re software/Medicare etc etc. The Alice Springs

Congress IT setup seemed to be very professionally run and reliable
I suspect they are mainly interested in clinical results - whatever gets

them that with minimal fuss. A Uni comp science dept would probably not
be able to provide ongoing support.
