We had a briefing today from a nurse involved in the National Bowel Cancer Screening initiative (good election year stuff).

Of note, there is a national register to keep track of the people sent screening kits who have not fronted up to investigate abnormal results.

We have to fill forms on paper to notify the register if we take any action, so they knwo to stop hassling the patient.

Electronic functionality will be June/July (?i think) for lodgement on a web site (without auto population of the forms from the clincial softwaer) or for integration into the clinical software - which will print paper to be sent to the register.

Electronic receipt of the pathology report result of the FOBT tests was not envisaged - we expect a letter in the mail, even though the provider can surely send HL7 path messages - I will follow-up this to double check.
That would be good Ian since paper is no longer an acceptable format for the transfer of pathology information in our surgery.
