Dear Salim,
I'm sorry for the ambiguity in the previous mail.
I just wanted to express my reservation about the invention of an 'internet
opposition' by K.T.Kunhikkannan in his Deshabhimani article. My reservation
originates more out of a concern for a real left that would respect /deal
with / respond to criticism in ways inclusive, rather than exclusive. At
the same time ,I would say that there has not been any effort on my part to
blame someone in particular.
Secondly, there seemed to me something existing in common, with a Kerala
Police inventing a nirodh story (in the sense that it is totally irrelevant
to substantiate any criminal charge) on the context of the arrest of Madani
, and someone like K.T.Kunhikkannan inventing an 'internet opposition' vowed
to subvert the LDF govt. This (latter) invention, I believe, is meant to
sound as though the internet were inhabited by a host of unscrupulous people
who may be out of touch with the problems of people engaged in real
struggles.
Both these attitudes, in my opinion, warrant criticism to the extent they
reflect predisposition to generating 'insiders' and 'outsiders' ,though in
different contexts and for different purposes.. In the same manner in which
a person supposedly possessing a packet of condems would instantly be
deprived of honour and respectability, some persons or group of persons
using cyber forums for creating / maintaining political debates are, being
asked to capitutate, by implication.
