i agree to the point that Anderson's idea cannot be blindly applied to non-western contexts for the simple reason that nation-state emerges in a different fashion.. however the patterns of its formation need not be rejectd altogether as it may help u 2look into the transformation of soceity.. the role press/media plays in constituting communitis need to be addressed. esply to understand the way various communities haggle for space in the public sphere. its constitutive role should not be undermined, i feel. (i m not overempasising the power of media and nor am i negating the power of audience.) just emphasising the way a new technological mechanism lend ways for communities to extend/expand their power of domination and others to resisst it.... some raw thoughts only
