Growl 1.3 is our lion only version. We're expecting to have it submitted to the app store before the end of the month.
1.2.2 seems to work for me on 10.7. Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to work for some people, but not for everyone as you have seen. Is there anything showing up in the console log?
