Tire size is a no-brainer. 120/70-17 Front and 170/60-17 rear. For normal
sport touring, run around 38psi front, 41psi rear. Now, tire choice is
completely subjective but use these articles for good reference.

Focus on the second one as it is closest to our sport touring GTS. Looks
like the Pirelli GTS MTR23/34 and Avon Azaro II are probably the best
choices. What is shocking in this test is the evaluation of the Bridgestone
BT020! It came in FIRST place for the VFR800 and LAST on the Triumph Sprint
ST!!! All other ratings for each tire remained the same for both bikes! I
suspect they might have gotten a bad set for the Triumph as evaluations for
the BT020 were otherwise stellar throughout the other test bikes.
In summary:
VFR800 Overall Score:
1st Bridgestone BT020 99%
2nd Avon Azaro II 98%
3rd Pirelli Dragon GTS 94%
4th Michelin Macadam 93%
5th Continental ContiForce 90%
5th Dunlop D207 90%
7th Metzeler MEZ4 87%
Triumph Sprint ST Overall Score:
1st Avon Azaro II 98%
2nd Pirelli Dragon GTS 95%
3rd Michelin Macadam 91%
4th Continental ContiForce 90%
5th Dunlop D207 89%
5th Metzeler MEZ4 88%
7th Bridgestone BT020 86%
