Actually, although my earlier note said for David to use 10w-40, I use
20w-50 since it gets hotter in my area. That is why I take extra time to
let the engine start to warm up in colder temps. The SF area seems to be
unique in that it gets a narrower range of temps than most other areas.
The manual mentions the use of 20w-40 is preffered, with 10w-30 also
mentioned for colder temps. However, I think it has 10w-40 stamped/cast
into the engine near the fill plug.

The manual has recommendations for weight/conditions.
If you are not above the arctic circle, stick with the
heavy stuff. The 20w40 in the book would be my
minimum recommendation--I would use the 20w50, and
DON'T use the 0 weight car stuff--per the MCN oil
article!.
