Yes, I believe it was their requirement that DexCool spec coolants be used
in their engines in order to provide adequate lubrication of the water
pumps.....post 1996 I believe. However, the extended life antifreezes MEET
the DexCool specifications. The one caveat about the extended life
antifreezes is that there shouldn't even be TRACE amounts of regular
ethylene glycol based antifreeze or the new stuff loses it's extended life
capabilities.

Funny, b/c wasn't GM the one who started this stuff?
Ever notice you cant use 10-40 oil in a lot of GM
engines because it will make them knock?  I've never
understood that one either.
