This GTS belongs to a close friend that bought this GTS (1998-model) this
spring. We like to ride together, and in Norway it's very unusual to see one
GTS and two GTSs together is interresting.
I was with my friend when he delivered the bike for an alarm installation,
and I went back some hours later to ride back with him. By that time the
bike was impossible to ride.
The alarm was installed by a tech and I was not present during the
installation, but from the information I got the problem arised when the
immobilizer was connected to the circuit. The tech, nor the owner, was aware
that the GTS has an immobilizer built in. The immobilizer connection on the
alarm gives a 12v current output, and the question is whether this output
could have damaged the EFI box or any of the relays?
The tech doesn't know much about the GTS and very few (i.e. one) Yamaha
dealer knows something about the GTS.
So there we are, the GTS has been transported to a Yamaha-dealer with little
or none knowledge about the GTS and a long servicebacklog already.
One way of isolating the problem could be to move parts, EFI, relays etc.
from my GTS to my friends GTS, but I am very afraid of damaging my GTS as
well.
Stein
