I dont know what is required to replace a clutch, but could a wire or sensor
or some hose have been left disconnected or reconnected to the wrong place ?
I always go back to replacing the engine in my Datsun 240-Z with a
high-performance fresh rebuild, and spending a MONTH trying to figure out
why it would not run worth crap, except at a very narrow RPM range.  I
looked at everything at least 100 times.
  Finally I got an epiphiny and checked an emission hose, which was
identical to the distributer vacume advance hose, and both went into a hose
junction box with some other hoses.  They were right next to each other, and
had been switched.  Once I switched them back, everything was fine.

No, they seem to correspond - it feels as if the bike is trying to go, but
just can't seem to grab...  the forward movement is 'stuttered', for lack of
a better description, unlike my original problem where I'd be doing 80 and
suddenly the rpms would jump and acceleration did not.

Definitely sure he said Barnett's would slip....

Yep, replaced everything -- plates, springs, spacers - in fact, I don't
think they originally intended to replace the basket, but once they opened
it up, they said it was shot.   As for the hydraulics...  would I be naive
to assume they would have had to?  ;-)      I do know the fluid was replaced
about 5,000 miles or so ago.
