The Vmax group has had problems with the Barnett plates slipping
too.  (though granted, the 'Max makes a lot more torque)
I use a Barnett spring setup in my Vmax, but Yamaha plates.
Works great.  I think that the Barnett plates were designed
for a lock-up clutch or something.
