headlight etiquette

Recently replaced the headlight bulb with a 55w halogen. Now have noticed
cagers flashing their headlights more often as I ride bye.
How should you ride during the day?
High beams on at all times or low beams during the daytime?
Or should you use whatever you can do to be visible regardless of the time of
day?
