I still think the only way this will ever be fixed is with a remapping of
the ECU. I'll be interested to see what else you can possibly find but I
think the only real permanent cure will be the rumored European '96 Eprom
for the ECU per the Dutch web page.

'93 that also has some surge effect but not as bad as most according to
Kevin Hawkins who thought mine was pretty smooth. Local altitude 700 ft.,
but regular jaunts to elevations up to 6600 ft. Altitude seems to not matter
on mine.
