I installed a GIVI Wingrack on my GTS, and yes, the painted panels do need
to be trimmed. When I mounted my rack, I forgot to make this adjustment
before the rack was almost totally installed, and I ended up chiseling away
the offending bodywork with a flat-bladed screwdriver (like the hack that I
sometimes am). I think I still have the instructions around somewhere if
you need to see them. Basically, they call for cutting away as much of the
panel as is necessary (about 0.25" - 0.5").
