Because I have run engine oil analysis on the oil from my GTS and each time
I had the oil analysed it came back fine. A couple times were from 3000
mile changes and I think three samples were from 7000 mile changes. I was
given this idea from an Amsoil salesman who said this is what Amsoil
recomends. And the thought is that the oil is still stable and doing it's
job. The filter has done it's job and has picked up the contaminants.
Discard the filter, keep the oil. I do have oil analysis done occasionally
to make sure that the oil is ok. And would not recommend changing your oil
on this basis without the analysis. Yes, the cost of the analysis outweighs
the gains from the longer change interval, however I also gain some
diagnostic information.
