I'd be inclined to go with the manufacturer's spec.  After all it's their
ass if they're wrong.  In fact, it seems to me with a service procedure that
effects drivability directly not to mention your personal safety you'd
pretty much want to stick with the manufacturer's recommendations.  I sure
would.
