I have ridden a friend's BMW R1100RT, and that bike had what I would describe as "classic" surging: the bike not holding a set throttle response (wandering) while the rider holds the throttle steady. My GTS does not do this, but does have what I would describe as "choppy throttle", the abrupt on/off behavior that we were talking about. Do the '93s have "classic surging" and "choppy throttle"?
I think many early FI bikes do have the same problem as mine. However, I will endevor to check all my settings and then mess around with the TPS to try and fix the abruptness thing.
