The Feb. 2002 issue of Car and driver has a nice articles on detectors with
some good testing. The Valentine One unit was picked tops based mostly on
range. Mounting one one a bike was of course not discussed, as this is a car
mag.

My opinion on this is that in the case of Laser or instant on when your on
top of the radar your right. My experience is that in a great percentage of
the time the radar will pick up the instant on checking the cars ahead and
give you warning or pick up the moving radar doing the same thing and in
some
cases pick up the laser. Personally I have avoided a ticket many times by
carefully watching and listening for the signal that told me police type
radar was around and adjusted my speed accordingly. It is not 100%
foolproof
and nobody should depend to heavily on a detector. It is tool to help warn
you of the radar but you have to interpret the signal and be prepared to
react quickly. If your hit with instant on and your on top of the radar
your had !!
