Doing the same thing right now and taking a break.  .....important to remove
and re-grease all the rear shock linkage while you are at it and have it all
apart.

No special tools, just a lot of scraped knuckles and dirty hands.  Get some
good waterproof grease like BelRay to have on hand to grease all the
bearings good.  Mine did not require and new bearings and it has about
37,000 miles on them between greasing.

To get at one of the shock linkages requires removing the exhaust system.
Don't try to short cut and miss that one linkage.  It normally needs grease
the worst.
