I'm curious.  What kind of maintenance are you planning (I'm taking Hawke
out of the picture...he's cheating with that oversized tank!)?

Perhaps I'm wrong here, but aren't there a lot of things that might effect
fuel economy that haven't been mentioned, such as, tires (type, inflation,
amount of current wear, etc.), what, where and how (and how much) stuff is
being carried, mechanical conditions of all kinds, type and size of
windscreen, weather?

I never average more than 45mpg and 42-43 mpg is much more common, and my
interstate  speeds normally top out at around 80, though sometimes I touch
90--(just trying to keep up with traffic, officer).  I do a lot of mixed
riding--local interstate, suburban and rural.
