Did the valve clearance check myself this winter and it was relatively
simple, although they were all within spec, so I didn't have much work to
do.  You need a fairly narrow set of feeler gauges though because with 5
valves on top of that little cylinder there isn't much room.

Replaced the valve cover gasket while I was in there due to a very small oil
sweat near one of the corners on the seal.

I've also had several bad experiences with bike mechanics, so I now do as
much as I possibly can myself.  Heck, I even mounted and balanced my own
tires this year.  Only the electronic stuff worries me now.
