Tom Several suggestions: Check with the welding instructor at your local vo-tech school. Check with the local hot rod club - the folks that restore 56 Chevys and 64 Mustangs (or 1917 Franklins) will almost cetainly know a couple of top notch fabricator/welders. Check with the local flying club - they're sure to know an FAA certified welder. Or just call Colorado School of Mines, ask for the welding deepartment, ask the secretary to let you talk to the technician who teaches welding lab.... Bill

One tie-down rail around my seat is broken (I have no idea how, it was that way when I bought the bike), and I'm think that instead of paying some exhorbitant sum to replace it (I think they're about $300 USD), I might prefer to have something custom done. That desire is increased by my understanding that the metal Yamaha used in these parts was such crap that you really can't repair it or refinish it, and I'm loathe to spend my money on crap - even Yamaha crap. So, I was thinking of investigating something in powdercoat aluminum (that's aluminium for many outside the colonies) or perhaps stainless as a second choice. I've never undertaken any such thing, so I have no reasonable expectation of feasibility, no preferred vendor, and no expectation of the what it might cost. It's just a wild guess, but I'm guessing one of you manic mechanics might. Thanks, Tom __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
