An alternative to the uniform "no one cares for any religion anymore" background is to have many religions and philosophies hijacked by corporate cultures.
There might be a corporation, where vegetarianism is mandatory and real furs and leather are striktly forbidden. And if it does some buisness involving animal parts it does so sercretly and if the secret gets out a suitable scapegoat is punished. Other corporations might embrace other philosophies or religions. That increases employee loyality and will in most cases not be all that expansive. That would give the corporate sheep more depth without really clashing with cyberpunk feeling.
