I tend to agree, but don't recall if 3E considers that (4E certainly does). 0.9m (1 yard) is SM -2 however its cross-section is circular, and according to 4E you add +2SM so it should end up as SM+0. A smaller missile (like almost all current western ones) would be SM-1. Note that this only applies to the target, as the defending ships are mostly going to be off the flightpath at least a bit.
